Welcome to the Health Ontology Mapper Wiki (HOM Wiki)
*THIS SITE IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION*
The Health Ontology Mapper is a general purpose instance mapper for use in biomedical research. It converts local data collected from both custom and commercial software environments into standard data encodings described in ISO111-79 format. Health Ontology Mapper instance maps are shareable via HL7 CTSII, tracked on CTSpedia.org and stored within a DSR (Data Standards Repository). Either the caDSR (developed by caBIG) or any other DSR may be used to store data models. All access is federated through the
OpenMDR? interface developed by the Ohio State University (OSU) caBIG Knowledge Center. Health Ontology Mapper instance map files are created by the Mapping Workbench developed at the University of Washington (UW). The Health Ontology Mapper system is available under an Open Source license at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF).
To simplify the placement and tracking of researcher requests for data, the Health Ontology Mapper runtime environment includes the Data Request and Data Mapping user interfaces. Once requested, data is mapped into ISO111-79 standard formats within a batch oriented environment in the Heath Ontology Mapper. The output of Health Ontology Mapper can then be used by researchers and biostatisticians for further analysis. This process is covered by an IRB approved protocol.

HOM Wiki Components
The HOM Wiki Components section is for Subject Matter Expert/Contributors that will be adding and editing master ontology index meta data. Meta data, in this context, is defined as data that details the origination and description of selected data elements in the Health Ontology Mapper. The HOM Wiki serves as the back end data index for use within the Health Ontology Mapper.
For Subject Matter Expert/Contributors, who need to add or edit meta data to the HOM Wiki, please use the instructions attached at the bottom of this page.
